System tagging is an integral part of Bilby that allows you to group Users and Activities on reporting pages. There are 2 major types of tags supported in the system. User tags and Activity tags. The difference is minor and outlined in the following docs;
The following information is relevant to all tags.
About System Tags
Name
This field appears to public Users and Members within Bilby. This works best as a small one or two word text field.
Description
This appears within the system as a descriptor of the name. On User tags, this will appear to Member Officers when editing tags. This is important when your group has certain restrictions in place.
Status
Tags support controls over tag visibility. Here are the supported statuses and their behaviour:
Status | Description |
---|---|
Public | Tags marked as public will appear visible to Users/Activities when associated |
Private | Tags marked as private are considered administrative. Private tags appear to Officers only |
Disabled | Tags marked as disabled exist on the system, but can no longer be selected |
Weight
Tags have a ‘weight’ field which will determine the order on the public interface. A tag with a higher weight number will appear last whereas a tag with a low weight number will appear last in a list.
For example this is the order that would appear:
Name | Weight |
---|---|
Tag 1 (First) | 9999 |
Tag 2 | 0 |
Tag 3 (Last) | -100 |
