System tags are an integral part of the Bilby system. Tagging allows the Bilby system to group common entities (Activities, User, etc). This can be very beneficial for reporting purposes.
Tag Status
Tags support various statuses to allow control over tag visibility. Here are the supported statuses and the behaviour of each status:
Status | Description |
---|---|
Public | Entities with tags that match this status will have their status shown in the public interface. |
Private | Tags with a private status are an administration only tag. Entities will retain the tag, but not have them shown. |
Disabled | Tags with a disabled status exist on the system, but cannot be selected in the admin interface. This is handy for special tags or deprecated tag where you may want to retain data. |
Tag Weight
Caution
Tags have a ‘weight’ field which will determine the order on the public interface. A tag with a low weight number will appear last. Whereas a tag with a high weight number will appear first in a list.
For example this is the order that would appear:
Name | Weight |
---|---|
Tag 1 (First) | 9999 |
Tag 2 | 0 |
Tag 3 (Last) | -9999 |
Bilby currently supports tagging different types of entities. We will outline the most important tags below.
Activity Tags
Activity tags are a way to manage what types of activities are offered. For example, If a Partner would like to offer ‘Cycling’ as an activity, a Partner Account can simply create a tag in the admin interface. This will now be available to be selected as an activity type by a leader offering an activity.
They are also important for several reasons:
- Users can quick filter to select different types of activities on offer
- Users the ability to subscribe to certain activity types
- Activity Officers can retrieve reporting metrics based on tags
Managing Tags
- Login with a Partner Account
- Navigate to ‘Manage Tags’
- Select the ‘Activity Types’ tab
- Edit, Create or Remove any tags
Adding tags to an activity
Activity tags are available when creating a new activity. They are also able to be changed at anytime. The system enforces at least 1 activity tag to be selected by an activity owner.
User Tags
User tags are important for several reasons. A Member Officer can filter and create reports based on tags that have been assigned to members in the system.
User tags can also be used to restrict users from being able to run activities. Read more about Configuring activity types
